Income department of indiaThe Income Tax Department officially launched its services in the year 1922. The Department functions under the supervision of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). Currently, there are about 60,000 personnel located in more than 500 cities and towns across India. The tax collected is used by the government for running development and social projects across the country.
