Longley Jones provides unique housing opportunities for low-income individuals and families. Our Income-Based Housing Program also known as Project-Based Section 8 provides rent-subsidized apartments to those who lack the financial resources to afford adequate housing.

What is Section 8?
Section 8 is a rent assistance program funded by the federal government through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Eligible applicants pay approximately 30% of their adjusted gross income toward rent. The program pays the remainder of the rent directly to the landlord.

Housing for seniors
Our income-based housing program features several locations designated for senior citizens. To qualify, applicants must be at least 62 years of age or disabled or handicapped as defined in Section 223 of the Social Security Act.

Applications
Applications for our Income-Based Housing Program are accepted without regard to race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin. All applicants must undergo a background check, which includes credit rating, landlord history, and criminal history. Applicants must also meet the established income criteria and occupancy guidelines. Qualified applicants are placed on a waiting list, with housing provided based on availability.

What to Bring to your Application Interview
To apply for our Income-based Housing Program, please bring the following:
1.) Photo ID for persons 18 or older
2.) Birth certificates and Social Security cards for each family member
3.) Proof of income (pay stubs, Social Security Award Letter, PA budget sheet)
